Andrea Voßhoff appointed Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information

Bonn/Berlin, 06 January 2014

After her successful election by the German Bundestag, Andrea Voßhoff has today been appointed the sixth Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information. The certificate of appointment has been presented by the Federal Minister of the Interior, Dr. Thomas de Maizière.

The 35th International Data Protection Conference adopts Resolutions on Anchoring Data Protection in International Law and on Privacy in Connection with Web Tracking

The 35th International Conference of Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners held in Warsaw from 23rd to 26th September urges governments and Internet companies to take effective measures against the ever more comprehensive registration and surveillance. Therefore, it has adopted several resolutions, among others, on the necessity of an international agreement on data protection, on technical measures against the tracking of the individual use of the Internet (“Do-Not-Track” Standard) and on Profiling.
