EU-data protection package: An important step towards modernizing data protection
Bonn/Berlin, 25 January 2012
In the view of Peter Schaar, the Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information, the proposals for a new EU data protection legal framework adopted by the European Commission today provide a sound basis for a comprehensive regulatory framework to effectively protect the fundamental right to data protection, but emphasises the need for further improvement.
